Herbs de Provence is a delicate combination of fragrant and savory herbs (oregano, rosemary, thyme, lavender, marjoram, etc…). We steeped these herbs in a simple syrup to infuse this margarita with some satisfying aromatics, that are well paired with the fresh-squeezed orange juice, tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice.
Ingredients:
Herbs de Provence Infused Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon Big Sur Herbs de Provence
Makes 1 margarita:
3oz fresh squeezed orange juice
2oz gold or silver tequila
1oz Cointreau or orange liqueur
1oz lime juice
1oz herbs de Provence infused simple syrup
Garnish: sugar or salt rimmed glass, lime and orange wedge
Instructions
To make the simple syrup, place granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan and slowly warm over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, stir in the herbs de Provence, and set aside to cool. Once cooled, transfer to a sealable container, and set aside.
To make a margarita, fill a large shaker full with ice. Add the orange juice, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup, vigorously shake, and pour into a rimmed glass. Garnish with lime and orange wedges before serving.
