Step aside scallops, these bacon wrapped onion rings are that perfect combination of sweet, smoky, and savory -all highlighted using our Big Sur All-Purpose Seasoning. This seasoning blend is perfect for everyday use! Our hand-crafted combination of sea salt, cracked black pepper, and garlic will definitely enhance the natural flavor of your recipes and dishes.
Serves 6 to 8
Ingredients:
2 to 3 large yellow onions, thickly sliced
1 lb. regular sliced bacon
½ cup honey
1 ½ teaspoons Big Sur All-Purpose Seasoning
The Pepper Plant BBQ Sauce, Gil’s Roasted Garlic Champagne Mustard or Champagne Jalapeño Mustard, for dipping
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Remove all but the outer 3 rings from the onions and place those rings on the prepared baking sheet. (Save the inner rings for use in another recipe). Tightly wrap the bacon around the rings, overlapping each loop slightly to totally conceal the onion. Secure with a toothpick.
Once all the onion rings have been wrapped, brush each generously with honey. Season the rings with all-purpose seasoning and place in the oven. Bake for 25 minutes or until crisp (you can broil the onion rings, briefly, for a deeper sear). Remove from the oven and set the rings aside on paper towels to drain.
Transfer the rings to a large platter and serve with BBQ sauce and mustards on the side for dipping and dunking.
